Rotterdam and Delft make a perfect match when you visit Holland for a holiday or for a city trip. The combination between a modern metropolis and the historic scenery in Delft will give you an excellent and representative view of our region and country.

Delft finds its origin in the 13th century. Only in the 16th century William of Orange took residence in the city which clarifies the connection with our Royal family, the House of Orange. In the Nieuwe Kerk (New Church) the Royal crypte is the tradional barrial place for members of the Royal family since William of Orange was entombed here in a mausoleum.
Painter Johannes Vermeer was born in Delft in 1632. Many of his paintings are Delft related. In his honour the Vermeer Centre is open to public. Other interesting places include the Prinsenhof Museum, the Old Church and Delft Blue Pottery at Royal Delft.
