You will find a number of lunchrooms in Rotterdam city center. From lowbudget to more exclusive and from casual to trendy. We will give you our suggestions for a nice lunch in our city!
In the city center:
Nostra at Van Oldenbarneveldstraat 127A. Excellent products, nice atmosphere and good service. Small terrace on street side and in backyard.
Staal at Beursplein (next to steps to the World Trade Center). Voted in the top of best terraces in Rotterdam. Good menu, friendly service. Also a good choice for a cup of coffee (taste the passion fruit cake!!) and diner.
Floor at Schouwburgplein 28 (next to the theatre). Easygoing atmosphere and good menu. In Summer the backyard is opened for lunch and diner.
Dudok at Meent 88, a hotspot in town! This Grand Cafe and restaurant is located in a by architect Willem Dudok designed former office building. Dudok is famous for its apple pie! Also recommended for a cup of coffee or diner.
Bazar at Witte de Withstraat 16. Dishes from the Middle East and North Africa. Good atmosphere and surprising dishes for an reasonable price. Highly recommended.
Coopvaert at Blaak 77 (square next to Maritime Museum and Zadkine sculpture). Nice atmosphere and friendly service. Also a nice place for a drink or for dinner.
Lloyd's - (Maritime Museum) Leuvehaven 1 - excellent spot - also for a drink or dinner
Out of the city center, Erasmusbridge area
Prachtig at Willemsplein 77 (under Erasmusbridge, next to Spido and World Port Experience). One of the hotspots in Rotterdam for lunch, diner or a cup of coffee! Good service and delicious menu. The terrace overlooks the river and skyline of Rotterdam. Highly recomended! Loos at Westplein 1 (Scheepvaartkwartier, near Veerhaven). Located in the historic part of Rotterdam. Water at corner Boompjes/Schiedamsedijk (in the Golden Tulip Rotterdam Center Hotel). Great location, nice menu and good service. The atmosphere we find somewhat "cold" but still worth a recommendation by GO 4 Rotterdam!
Nostra at Van Oldenbarneveldstraat
On the South bank at Wilhelminapier:
Cafe Rotterdam. Located in the cruiseterminal this cafe (and restaurant) has got it all! A trendy/lounge atmosphere, great view over the river, Erasmusbridge and Rotterdam Skyline and above all a quality menu and good service. The terrace is a nice place to hang out in Summer. A minor is that cruiseships can block the river and skyline views. Next door one the "Rotterdam" by architect Rem Koolhaas is being build (2009) which might cause some buildingnoise. Apart from this, Cafe Rotterdam is an excellent choice for lunch, diner or a cup of coffee. Hotel New York. One of the hotspots in Rotterdam for lunch, diner or just a cup of coffee! The former headoffice of Holland America Line has a warm and historic atmosphere. It can be quite noisy though. The food is of good quality but it is the location you should go for. Also a nice bar outsite in the Summer season. An absolute must!
At the Wilhelminapier there are a more lunch locations near Luxor Theatre and in the Montevideo Tower.
Special recommendations are: The Pancake boat that departs from Parkhaven (Euromast). Eat pancakes unlimited during a one hour harbourcruise. After lunch the kids can play in the kids area in the bottom of the boat. Seth Poffertjes at Hoogstraat 177 serves a typical Dutch lunch with small pancakes named poffertjes. You eat this dish perferably with white sugar and butter.
The pancake boat
Also a special recommendation for Euromast where you can have a drink or a good lunch at about 100 metres height. Euromast also serves fine dinners. This all in combination with the best view over Rotterdam you can possibly have. Of course there is an entrance fee to get on the tower. After 18.00 hrs and on Sunday parking is free in the Euromast area. Make a reservation if you want to have dinner (phone local 010-2411 788).
SS Rotterdam
The former flagship of Holland America Line operates two restaurants and a bar. Have lunch, dinner or a high tea in the Lido restaurant or a more intimate dinner in the Club Room restaurant. The Ocean Bar is open for a drink in style.
Experience Rotterdam maritime history.
